Environmental clearance coordination

Coordinate the information and submission sequence for a project that may require prior environmental clearance.

Determine the project category and approval sequence

We assemble the project description, location constraints and capacity information needed to assess the applicable EIA notification entry. Expansion and modernisation require their own review rather than automatic reliance on the original project approval.

Support focuses on the document register, consultant coordination, submission tracking and a condition-compliance calendar. Specialist studies and statutory appraisals remain with the appropriate experts and authorities.

Create one project register with the proponent, location, current configuration and proposed configuration clearly identified. Link each information request to the consultant or business owner responsible for it. Keep design decisions, application preparation, authority queries and issued decisions as separate milestones, so an internal project deadline is not mistaken for an authority’s commitment.

What to prepare

  • Project concept, activity, capacity and expansion history
  • Land coordinates, site plans and location constraints
  • Previous clearances, conditions and compliance reports
  • Available feasibility, environmental baseline and technical studies

Check that the site plans, capacity schedules and project description use the same revision. Retain earlier clearances with their annexures and identify how the current proposal differs. Record the source and date of technical studies; unresolved inconsistencies should go back to the responsible specialist before the documents are assembled into a submission.

A practical example

A planned capacity increase may alter the approval path even where the production process stays similar. Reconcile the proposed capacity with the clearance already issued before preparing a construction schedule.

For the capacity-increase example, compare the existing approved configuration, actual operating configuration and proposed addition in separate columns. Identify units of measurement and supporting drawings. A difference between those columns is a question to resolve with the project team and advisers, not a reason to silently change an old approval figure in the new application pack.

Scope, fees and responsibilities

No clearance date or outcome is guaranteed. Online maps assist screening but do not replace the legal location assessment. Public consultation, environmental studies and accredited consultant assignments are included only when expressly agreed.

The proposal identifies the deliverables, client data responsibilities and follow-up included. Government charges and external technical work are quoted separately where applicable.

The handover includes the submitted document set, acknowledgement, open queries and the issued decision when available. Extract relevant conditions into an action register with evidence owners and follow-up dates taken from the actual documents. Coordination tracks those actions; it does not certify technical compliance or replace the specialist work needed to demonstrate it.
