Tax disputes and representation

Understand the notice, preserve the evidence and choose the right response for the stage of the dispute.

Start with the document and deadline

Tell us the tax, authority, period and date shown on the notice or order. The first review separates factual reconciliation, legal issues, response deadlines and any immediate recovery concern. Do not send sensitive case papers through the public enquiry message; document exchange is arranged after intake.

Support through the matter

  • Notice triage and evidence preparation
  • Assessment submissions and hearing preparation
  • Appeal and demand reconciliation
  • Specialist counsel coordination for investigations and court matters

Find support for the stage you have reached

A notice or an assessment in progress

Begin with the complete communication and its attachments. Keep a record of what has already been answered so the next submission addresses the outstanding questions.

An order, appeal or outstanding demand

Keep the order and demand records together with earlier submissions and acknowledgements. An appeal assignment and a recovery concern may need separate actions and explicitly agreed responsibilities.

A specialist dispute or investigation

What to include in your first enquiry

Share the tax involved, authority, financial period, document date and response date shown, together with a short description of the present stage. Mention any hearing already listed or action already taken. Keep case papers and personal identifiers out of the public message; the document-exchange process is arranged after intake.

For example, a business may have replied to a notice but later received an order and a separate demand communication. Describe all three events so the assignment can distinguish preparation of the appeal record from reconciliation of the demand. The engagement then identifies the immediate work, responsible representative and further stages that need their own scope.

Agree who does what

The engagement specifies the documents, periods and procedural stage covered. Eligible representatives and counsel are confirmed for any appearance. Fees depend on complexity and stage; filing charges, deposits and specialist fees are separately identified.
