Approach and deliverables
We reconstruct the return history, notices and issues under examination and separate questions of fact from procedural and legal objections. Reassessment work requires particular attention to the chronology and the law applicable to that period.
The assignment can include an issue matrix, submission drafts, hearing notes and a reconciliation of evidence already supplied. New explanations are checked against earlier statements so inconsistencies are addressed openly.
Build a chronology that connects each communication to the response submitted and the evidence supplied at that stage. Keep questions still awaiting an answer separate from issues already addressed, with a named contact for obtaining missing factual records.
Records for the case file
- Returns and computations for the relevant periods
- Complete notice and response chronology
- Books, bank statements and transaction support
- Prior orders and appellate history
For each disputed transaction, connect the ledger entry to the bank movement, agreement and explanation previously given. Preserve original records and identify later corrections explicitly; a revised working schedule should not erase the trail showing what the authority received earlier.
A practical example
Where an authority asks about a large bank credit, identify its source, accounting treatment and supporting agreement before drawing a tax conclusion from the bank description.
A bank credit might represent several receipts combined into one transfer. Break the amount into identifiable components and link each component to its underlying document. Where a component cannot yet be explained, record the gap instead of forcing the total into an unsupported description.
Engagement boundaries
Specialist opinions, valuation and subsequent appeals require separate scope. We do not promise an assessment outcome or treat every information request as an admission of liability.
The proposal states the period, procedural stage, drafting and appearance work included. Share the deadline during intake; a public enquiry does not appoint a representative or extend any statutory time limit.
The closing file includes the latest issue matrix, submitted versions, hearing notes and any order received. Identify the person monitoring subsequent communications and distinguish completion of the agreed submissions from the separate decision about responding to a later order.
