Assessment and deliverables
We review the applicant’s legal identity, address, authorisation and bank details against the DGFT workflow. Existing IEC holders should identify profile changes and applicable confirmation requirements rather than applying again for the same entity.
Support includes the document checklist, portal preparation and a record of the submitted details. The client retains account control and completes required authentication through the authorised signatory.
Start by identifying whether the request concerns a first application, an existing profile or a specific discrepancy raised by a bank or trading partner. Record the current details and proposed corrections before preparing portal inputs. This keeps the assignment focused on the actual issue and preserves a traceable record of what the applicant has asked to change.
Prepare the evidence
- PAN and entity details
- Address evidence and authorised signatory information
- Bank account evidence
- Existing IEC and proposed changes
Compare the legal name and address across the supplied entity, bank and premises records. Identify differences in spelling, ownership or account-holder details for the applicant to resolve. Keep a dated copy of the evidence used for preparation, while leaving passwords and one-time authentication codes under the client’s control rather than collecting them in the enquiry form.
A practical example
A business changing its registered address should align its underlying records and IEC profile; an old address in one system can create avoidable shipment or banking queries.
For an address change, prepare a before-and-after schedule and identify the documents supporting the new details. Check whether the query concerns the IEC profile itself or a separate record held by another party. Updating one profile does not confirm that every bank, logistics provider or shipment document has also been updated.
Scope and fees
IEC is not a blanket licence for restricted goods and does not replace customs, tax or sector permissions. Government portal charges are separate from professional fees.
The proposal identifies the transactions and periods covered, client approvals, query support and professional fees. Government charges and external certifications are separate unless expressly included.
The handover includes the details submitted, acknowledgement or issued record available, unresolved queries and any follow-up agreed with the applicant. Distinguish a saved draft from a completed submission and a submitted correction from the final profile shown by the portal. Product-specific permissions and shipment clearance remain separate questions for the relevant assignment.
