Signage and local permits

Check proposed signage and local operating features against the premises and authority requirements.

Work and handover

We organise sign dimensions, placement, branding and ownership permissions, identify the relevant local process and coordinate the agreed application records. Temporary displays and permanent installations are distinguished.

List each proposed sign separately with its site, intended display period, dimensions and placement. Identify whether it is a new installation or a change to an existing display. Keep the property owner’s consent and the local authority question distinct, so approval from one party is not presented as resolving every permission needed for the proposal.

Location-specific evidence

  • Sign artwork and dimensions
  • location photographs or plans
  • building-owner consent
  • premises documents
  • illumination and installation details.

Use a dated artwork and location plan that match the dimensions in the application brief. Record revisions to illumination, mounting position or display content and identify which version has been supplied for review. Where technical drawings or certifications are requested, assign those inputs to the appointed professionals rather than substituting a marketing mock-up.

A point to resolve early

A fascia sign and a roadside advertising structure may raise different questions. The design team should know the permitted placement before fabrication.

For a brand rollout, the same artwork may be proposed on a shop frontage at one location and on a separate structure at another. Prepare location-specific records for each installation instead of copying the first site’s permission file. A change in placement should be referred back for assessment before the fabrication team relies on the earlier design brief.

Scope and authority process

Structural certification, electrical work and installation are outside legal coordination unless expressly included.

The written engagement identifies the location, authority, application stage and fees. Government charges and third-party costs are addressed separately; authority approval is not guaranteed.

The handover identifies the design version reviewed, supporting consents, submitted application and any conditions in the issued decision. Give the installation team the relevant final records and allocate responsibility for later changes or renewals where applicable. Document coordination does not certify the structure or electrical work, and an application receipt should not be treated as permission to install.
