Work and handover
We identify the municipal jurisdiction and activity category, organise applicant and occupation evidence and coordinate the agreed submission and clarification stage. Existing conditions and renewal information are captured for handover.
Identify whether the work concerns a new application, renewal or change to an existing record. Prepare a brief showing the proposed operator, activity and occupied area, with any earlier application references. Keep questions about jurisdiction or the local activity description visible until resolved, rather than selecting a category solely because its label sounds similar to the business.
Location-specific evidence
- Premises address
- trade description
- ownership or lease evidence
- operator details
- existing permissions
- layout where required.
Compare the premises identifiers across the lease, address evidence and previous licence. Explain differences in unit numbers or occupied areas and identify who can supply supporting clarification. Retain the documents actually used for the application with their dates, so a later authority query can be answered against the submitted version.
A point to resolve early
A change of operator or use should be assessed even if the premises already has a licence in another name. The old document does not answer the new applicant’s position.
For an operator change, record the outgoing and incoming entities, the occupation arrangement and any change in activity. Obtain the existing licence and its conditions before assuming that a name change is the only step needed. The local procedure must determine the appropriate application; the preparation file should present the facts without suggesting that the old permission automatically transfers.
Scope and authority process
Local authority requirements determine the final record set. Inspection, technical certification and other sector permissions are separately scoped.
The written engagement identifies the location, authority, application stage and fees. Government charges and third-party costs are addressed separately; authority approval is not guaranteed.
The handover distinguishes the submitted application, fee receipt, clarification requests and issued decision. Where a licence is granted, record its actual conditions and validity information for the business team. Allocate responsibility for future changes or renewals and retain unresolved items separately; a payment receipt alone is not evidence that permission has been issued.
