Define the manufacturing perimeter
Record each process, installed capacity, raw material, fuel and output. Distinguish your own production from job work and contract manufacturing. The permissions held by another manufacturer do not automatically cover your site or role.
Plan site dependencies before installation
Map premises use, environmental consent, utilities and workplace requirements before commissioning. A change in capacity or process should be compared with the conditions of existing permissions. Technical designs and safety assessments need appropriately qualified specialists.
Check product requirements
Identify whether the finished product is covered by a Quality Control Order or another sector regime. BIS compulsory certification is product- and scheme-specific; the exact order, standard and commencement conditions must be checked.
Maintain an operating evidence chain
- Raw-material receipts, production and finished-goods reconciliation.
- Job-work movement and ownership records.
- Employee and contractor information.
- Waste, monitoring and permission-condition records.
- Domestic sales and export documentation where relevant.
A practical example
Adding a coating process can change emissions, waste and worker-exposure questions even when the final product stays the same. Update the process description before assuming the old approval file remains sufficient.
Prepare a before-and-after process brief
For an expansion, describe the current and proposed equipment, materials, capacity and outsourced stages separately. Attach dated layouts and the existing permission conditions, identifying who can confirm the technical information.
Factory approval coordination and pollution consent assessment use different parts of that evidence. Give both workstreams a consistent description of the change and keep technical questions assigned to the responsible engineer or specialist.
Explain the production-to-stock bridge
Connect material issued to production with completed output, work in progress, scrap and rejected items for the same period. Retain the units and source records behind each quantity rather than forcing a difference into one balancing adjustment.
For example, a batch partly completed at month-end should remain distinguishable from finished goods dispatched to customers. Inventory accounting support can reconcile the working schedules with the books, using production-team confirmation for unresolved quantities and status.
