GST for multiple registrations

Create a coordinated GST process without losing the distinct records of each registration.

Define the GST work

We map GSTINs, premises and transaction flows, align close dates and organise registration-level reconciliations. Common expenses, cross-location supplies and central reporting are examined as separate workflow questions.

Prepare a registration map linking each GSTIN to the legal entity, operating premises, accounting codes and local record owner. Agree how the central team receives and resolves exceptions. A common reporting timetable is useful only when the underlying registration-level responsibilities remain clear.

Records needed for a useful assessment

  • GSTIN list
  • location activity map
  • inter-unit transactions
  • shared expenses
  • return calendars
  • accounting dimensions
  • responsible teams.

Keep a bridge between the consolidated ledger and the records used for each registration. Identify transactions that lack a reliable location code, invoices addressed to a different GSTIN and shared costs needing a separate treatment decision. Preserve the basis for an allocation rather than relying on an unexplained spreadsheet split.

A transaction detail that matters

A central finance team may see one ledger while each location files separately. Reporting dimensions should make the allocation and reconciliation traceable.

For example, a supplier invoice may be entered by the head-office team while its supporting request comes from another location. Identify the named recipient, underlying supply and accounting treatment before deciding how it enters the GST workings. The department that paid the invoice does not, by itself, resolve every reporting question.

What your proposal will cover

The proposal fixes covered registrations and volume. New states, complex allocation opinions and historical differences may change the scope.

The written engagement confirms the GSTINs, periods, deliverables and responsibilities. Government payments and professional charges are identified separately.

The handover combines a group-level status view with separate reconciliations and filing evidence for each covered GSTIN. Assign owners to cross-location differences and record which matters need advice before a correction. A consolidated dashboard should not hide an unfinished return or unresolved transaction at one registration.
