Shops and establishments compliance

Connect establishment registration and workplace records to the actual premises and state framework.

What the assignment covers

We identify the establishment type, assess the local process and organise the agreed application or ongoing records. Changes in address, activity, ownership or staffing are tracked for their possible effect.

Begin with a location schedule: who occupies each premises, what work takes place there, when operations began and which people work from that location. Separate an initial application from a change to an existing record or the closure of a premises. The applicable state process determines the next step.

Records to prepare securely

  • Premises evidence
  • activity description
  • employer particulars
  • workforce details
  • opening hours
  • existing registration
  • change history.

Keep the current certificate alongside earlier applications, acknowledgements and correspondence. Where the business has moved, record the old and new addresses and the actual dates of the change. Identify discrepancies between the registration, occupancy documents and current operations before preparing a submission.

A workforce detail to resolve

A registered office and a customer-facing outlet may not be the same establishment. Describe what happens at each premises rather than relying on the address on the incorporation certificate.

Delhi’s Labour Department registration FAQ describes separate online options for registration and searching existing establishments, followed by downloading the certificate after registration. Use an existing-record search to help identify the record you are working with before preparing a new application. This is a Delhi procedure example; confirm the appropriate state route and current portal instructions for your premises.

For example, a business might retain its corporate correspondence address while opening a staffed sales outlet elsewhere. The brief should describe both locations and their activities. Copying the corporate address into every application can obscure the premises that the application is intended to cover.

Scope and responsibilities

Municipal trade, fire and sector permissions are distinct and included only when listed.

Agree the establishments, worker categories, periods, deliverables and fees in writing. Initial enquiries should omit employee identifiers, medical information and complaint records.

The handover contains the submitted particulars, available acknowledgement or certificate, unresolved queries and the person responsible for later changes. Record any conditions or future actions identified for that specific registration. An application acknowledgement should not be described as an issued registration, and a process used in one state should not be assumed to apply in another.
