Approach and deliverables
We compare statutory records, registrations, accounts and filing acknowledgements to identify what is missing, inconsistent or late. The review separates a document gap from a substantive issue requiring legal or technical advice.
The deliverable is a prioritised remediation register with an owner, evidence requirement and proposed next action for each item. Current obligations continue alongside the backlog; clearing old work should not create a new missed filing.
- Agree the entities, registrations and periods covered by the review.
- Compare available evidence with the business’s record of completed work.
- Classify each gap and identify the facts needed to assess a correction route.
- Sequence the agreed actions and retain evidence of each outcome.
Keep retrieval of a missing document distinct from correction of an incorrect record. A tracker should not label both as the same defect, since the work and consequences can differ.
Records to prepare
- Entity and registration list
- Filing history and acknowledgements
- Accounts, statutory records and notices
- Known deadlines and business changes
Preserve the original records and identify their source and date. Include correspondence showing rejected submissions, authority queries and earlier attempts to resolve an issue. Record uncertainty about an event rather than filling the gap with an assumed date or recreated approval.
A practical example
An annual filing marked as complete internally may lack a valid acknowledgement. Check the authority record before deciding whether to retrieve evidence, correct data or make a delayed filing.
For the missing-acknowledgement example, retain the original internal status and compare it with the available submission reference, payment record and authority response. Document the conclusion and its evidence. If the position remains uncertain, keep the issue open with a named follow-up owner.
Scope and responsibilities
Penalties, additional fees and available correction routes depend on the actual defect. We do not backdate records or promise that a filing erases the underlying non-compliance.
The proposal specifies the entities, periods, filings and coordination included. Client approval of factual statements and continuing operational responsibilities is recorded before implementation.
The completion pack separates corrected items, submitted work awaiting an outcome and unresolved matters requiring further advice. It includes the evidence index, final action register and responsibilities for keeping current work on schedule. A backlog review does not silently include every subsequent filing or disputed proceeding.
